Frequently asked questions
Related to the management of the facility waiting lists
Q1 – How do I get on to a facility wait list?
A – Any member can request to join a waiting list by forwarding the appropriate application fee [$50 for Dinghy and Runabout waiting lists or $100 for all other waiting lists] with their name, to the club Secretary, at any time.
Q2 – How do I find out where I am on the respective facility wait list?
A – Wait list are updated to the Clubs website usually twice a year just prior to the meetings of members.
Q3 – Is the PAC Facility allocated to the Member or the vessel?
A – The PAC Facility is allocated to the vessel and ownership as recorded on the MVD form at time of allocation of the Facility.
Q4 – How long can I hold onto an allocated facility?
A – Until you resign your membership or change your vessel. If on change of vessel the new MVD form indicates vessel is suitable for the facility and ownership has not changed, the new vessel would be expected to be allocated to the facility. (Refer also to Q 17)
Q5 – I am at the top of the wait list and my vessel is suitable for the available facility, how do I get allocated a PAC Facility?
A – The Facility Manager will advise you that a facility is able to be allocated and on completion of an MVD form and payment of respective fee the facility will then be allocated.
Q6 – I am at the top of the wait list and I have selected a status of Not Eligible (NE), will I be contacted if a PAC Facility becomes available?
A – The Facility Manager will not contact you. Until the Member advises that they would like to change their status no contact will be made with any member with and NE status on a wait list.
Q7 – Why introduce Not Eligible (NE)?
A – Adding NE to the waiting lists gives members and prospective members a more realistic view of the waiting lists. Also it saves time in contacting members when a facility becomes available.
Q8 – What does NE mean?
A – The member is not eligible for this facility at this point of time and will not be contacted when a facility becomes available..
Q9 – How does the Facility Manager determine if my vessel is suitable for the vacant facility?
A – Vessel 1 on the clubs data base, as advised on the MVD form, is the Vessel that is attached to the waiting list. The Facility Manager reviews these details to determine if vessel is suitable. It is the member’s responsibility to ensure these details are kept up to date.
Q10 – The member’s vessel at the top of the list is not suitable for the released space?
A – The Facility manager will look at any outstanding relocations and move these vessels if this gets the wait listed member on to the PAC facility. If relocation does not achieve this, the process will be repeated, for the next member’s vessel on the wait list, until the released space is allocated. The member stays at the top of the wait list.
Q11 – I have been contacted by the Facility Manager and advised a facility is available. What are my choices?
A) A member with a suitable vessel can choose to:
1. accept position, pay facility fee, complete the MVD form and the member is removed from the waiting list
2. change status to NE and pass over this offer
3. reject facility offered and remove their name form the wait list
B) A member without a vessel can choose to:
1. accept position, pay facility fee and is removed from the waiting list. The member is given three months to secure a suitable vessel and complete the MVD form. If vessel is not secured at the end of this period the allocated facility is released to the next available person on the wait list and the member can then choose to rejoin the wait list as at the date of payment of the appropriate wait list application fee.
2. change status to NE and pass over this offer
3. reject facility offered and remove their name form the wait list
Q12 – The member is unable to secure a vessel and complete the MVD form within three months?
A – The member is removed from the wait list and can then choose to rejoin the wait list as at the date of payment of the appropriate wait list application fee. The member is not able to switch to a NE classification at this time. Any unused facility fee paid is refunded.
Q13 – How do I get on the relocation wait list?
A – You must write to the Secretary requesting such with application fee of $100 attached.
Q14 – Can I lose access to my allocated Facility?
A – Yes. This would be unusual, but sale of vessel already allocated to a facility; breach of Club Rules and non payment of Fees are all reasons past members have lost access to facilities.
Q15 – What happens when a member releases the facility?
A – Where applicable, the member is given the appropriate refund for any unused facility fee and can then choose to rejoin the wait list as at the date of payment of the appropriate wait list application fee.
Q16 – What happens if the ownership of the vessel in the PAC facility changes?
A – The Vessel may not be eligible for that facility. The Member should contact the Board in advance to understand the implications of this prior to change of any % of ownership.
Q17 – Can a member with two vessels swap these vessels in an allocated facility?
A – This would be an exception and would require Board approval. If the second vessel was purchased after the facility was allocated this would not be possible without prior Board approval.
Q18 – What happens when the member with the facility upgrades their vessel and it no longer fits their allocated Facility?
A – The member releases their facility on change of allocated vessel and can then choose to rejoin the wait list as at the date of payment of the appropriate wait list application fee.
Q19 – The member with the facility is upgrading their vessel and the new vessel still fits within their allocated facility?
A – The sale of the vessel immediately release the PAC allocated Facility from the Member. The member is required to apply to the Board in advance advising of a change on vessel (the member can expect the Board to approve up to a three month window for the member to acquire their new vessel and then forward a completed MVD form) to maintain their existing Facility. This must be done in writing and in advance of disposal or purchase of vessel. At the same time the Member would also notify the Board if their facility would be vacant for an extended period.
Q20 – The member with the facility is going overseas for an extended period and is selling their vessel?
A – The sale of the vessel immediately release the PAC allocated Facility from the Member and can then choose to rejoin the wait list as at the date of payment of the appropriate wait list application fee
Q21 – When and how can I move my vessel to a status of NE
A – A wait listed member can move their status to NE [or off NE status] at any time by writing to the club Secretary
Q22 – If a member has a classification of NE, are they reviewed for allocation to an available facility?
A – No. Any member with an NE status is ignored when moving down the waiting lists.
Q23 – Does a Member who has been on a PAC Facility get priority when moving back onto the wait list?
A – No. The member commences on the wait list as at the date their new wait list Application Fee for the respective wait list is received.
